St. Patrick’s Day in München 2026

Am Sams­tag begin­nen wir mit der Pre Para­de Par­ty und iri­scher Musik am Ode­ons­platz. Am Sams­tag­abend fin­den Live Events im Schlacht­hof und an vie­len ande­ren Orten statt. Die St. Patrick’s Day Para­de am Sonn­tag beginnt um 12:00 Uhr an der Münch­ner Frei­heit und endet am Ode­ons­platz mit der After Para­de. Der Tag endet mit iri­scher Musik und Tanz­vor­füh­run­gen.

Der iri­sche Natio­nal­fei­er­tag St. Patrick’s Day wird nicht nur auf der Insel gefei­ert, son­dern welt­weit. In München wur­de die St. Patrick’s Day Para­de erst­mals 1996 abge­hal­ten, orga­ni­siert von eini­gen Iren und Freun­den in München. Die Ver­an­stal­tung war für 200 Leu­te geplant, gekom­men sind jedoch 3000! Danach war klar: Die Para­de zu Ehren des iri­schen Natio­nal­hei­li­gen wird Tra­di­ti­on.

Mitt­ler­wei­le hel­fen vie­le Ver­ei­ne und wei­ter­hin aus­schließ­lich Ehren­amt­li­che mit bei der Orga­ni­sa­ti­on: von der Ein­la­dung der Para­de­teil­neh­mer und Ehren­gäs­te über den Auf­bau der Stän­de und Büh­nen und die Ver­pfle­gung bis hin zu Strom, Was­ser, Toi­let­ten und Abfall. Bei so einer Mas­sen­ver­an­stal­tung muss an alles gedacht wer­den. Nach­dem der Deutsch-Iri­sche Freun­des­kreis Bay­ern jah­re­lang die Haupt­ko­or­di­na­ti­on inne­hat­te, haben sich die betei­lig­ten Ver­ei­ne 2015 unter dem Dach­ver­band Munich Irish Net­work e. V. zusam­men­ge­schlos­sen und ein Para­den-Komi­tee gebil­det.

On Satur­day we start with the Pre Para­de Par­ty and Irish music at Ode­ons­platz. Satur­day night live events take place at the Schlacht­hof and many other venues. The St. Patrick’s Day Para­de on Sun­day starts at 12:00 noon at Münch­ner Frei­heit and ends at Ode­ons­platz with the After Para­de. The day ends with Irish music and dance per­for­man­ces.

St. Patricks Day is THE Irish Natio­nal Holi­day and is not only cele­bra­ted on the island, but world­wi­de. In Munich, the St. Patrick’s Day Para­de was held for the first time in 1996, orga­nis­ed by some Irish peo­p­le and fri­ends in Munich. The event was plan­ned for 200 peo­p­le, but 3000 tur­ned up! After that it was clear that the para­de in honour of the Irish natio­nal saint would beco­me a tra­di­ti­on.

In the mean­ti­me, many asso­cia­ti­ons and vol­un­teers have been hel­ping with the orga­ni­sa­ti­on: from invi­ting the para­de par­ti­ci­pan­ts and guests of honour to set­ting up the stands and stages, cate­ring, elec­tri­ci­ty, water, toi­lets and was­te. Ever­y­thing has to be thought of at such a mass event. After the Ger­man-Irish Fri­ends of Bava­ria had been the main coor­di­na­tor for many years, the par­ti­ci­pa­ting asso­cia­ti­ons joi­n­ed forces in 2015 under the umbrel­la orga­ni­sa­ti­on Munich Irish Net­work e. V. and for­med a para­de com­mit­tee.
